Sid L. Scruggs Seeks International Office
By Michael Schwartz
Past International Director Sid Scruggs III, a member of the Vass Lions Club in North Carolina, has a dream: to become president of the International Association of Lions Clubs, the world's largest service organization with more than 1.4 million members.
Scruggs has been recognized on the international level for his devotion to spreading the mission of Lionism. Now Scruggs has an opportunity to continue his work as he seeks the office of 2nd vice president of Lions Clubs.
At the Chicago convention in 2007, the international leadership announced their endorsement of the North Carolina Lion for higher office. The election will be held in Bangkok, Thailand, site of our 2008 international convention.
Scruggs was elected to serve as an international director in 2000. He has held most local, district and state offices during his service to Lions Clubs.
Along with his wife, Lion Judy, the two have traveled the globe on missions and speaking engagements on behalf of the international association.
Past International Director Sid Scruggs has been endorsed by 80 single and multiple districts in his bid to become 2nd vice president of the International Association of Lions Clubs.
Forty-one multiple districts in the United States and 39 international districts, representing more than 812,553 Lions worldwide, have announced their support for the North Carolina Lion.

Dear Fellow Lions:
ANNOUNCEMENT OF VENUE FOR CAUCUS MEETING
The election of LCI's executive officers and international directors and voting on proposed constitutional amendments is one of the privileges extended to delegates at the international convention.
This year, instead of visiting individual caucuses and contending with heavy volumes of traffic, another option is being made available. Candidates seeking election will be able to meet delegates by attending a special Candidates Caucus Meeting on Wednesday afternoon following the "Thai Show." Each candidate for vice president is invited to make a 5-minute presentation, and candidates for international director will have an opportunity to make a 2-minute presentation.
The Candidates Caucus Meeting will be held at IMPACT:
Wednesday, June 25, 2008
16:30 - 18:00
Grand Diamond Ballroom
Please be advised that
it is up to the candidates to obtain this information, as staff members cannot be involved in political matters.
Sincerely,
Joseph L. Wroblewski
Past International President
Chairperson, Convention Committee
